The Setup: When it was time to make new business cards for my personal brand, Blazenhoff Industries, I didn’t just think outside the box. I threw the whole box away.

The Challenge: I wanted something people wouldn’t forget. A business card that wasn’t a boring piece of paper, but a conversation starter. From my blogging days, I knew one thing for sure...people love being seen as cool. So I ran with that.

The Idea: After a few failed prototypes, I landed on the perfect calling card: a blue ribbon that says, “I’m Cool. Rusty says so.” It’s not just a playful nod to my work, it’s also an actual award. A way to recognize someone’s coolness in the moment. (And no, I don’t give it to just anyone. That’s printed on the back.)

The Reaction: People love these ribbons. They light up when they get one. It’s personal, unexpected, and affirming. I always handwrite their name on the back, spelled correctly, which makes it feel like a real badge of honor. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a blue ribbon that proves they’re cool?
